Pizza (by Biggs)

Tonight we had a housewarming party and someone made the very sensible decision that we should put something in our bellies before guests arrived and we started guzzling booze. The obvious choice was pizza and Fi and Amanda hadn't had the pleasure of Errol's yet so we ordered away.

Amanda chose a lamb pizza I think because of the weird offering of mashed potato on it, Fi chose the Tandoori Chicken and I went with the classically proven Peperoni. The mashed potato wasn't terrible, someone commented that it just tasted like a roast dinner on a pizza. The Tandoori Chicken was delicious and the peperoni....classic.

Amanda was particularly charmed by the clichéd Italian Papa who delivered the pizzas, "You order the pizza? Good, I'm doubled the park!"

Dumplings (by Biggs)

My favourite ladies are in town tonight so I took them to my favourite bar. There was a lot of talk about dumplings throughout the evening so I decided to blow their minds by ordering some from China Town to be delivered right to us in the bar.

We all thought the highlight of the meal was by far and away the juicy pork dumplings but there were also a mix of tasty pork and beef fried dumplings. Spring rolls were ordered for good luck. And the did indeed bring us good luck.....a perfect night!

Zucchini and Corn Fritters (by Biggs)

Genius struck today when I realised I was in Geelong and one of the happiest places in the world is also in Geelong - Little Creatures Brewery! It's one of my favourite hangouts in Perth so to know I can access one on the East Coast now as well fills me with joy.

A massive day at work had earned me a beer. I wasn't super hungry so decided on some olives and fritters. The olives were excellent, the fritters average but I didn't care because I was at Little Creatures Brewery!

Ants Bistro (by Biggs)

I got back into town, from a day in Geelong, at about dinner time to discover Red and G were having a drink on a rooftop bar. I joined them and demanded to be fed. Red took the call to action and escorted us to our favourite bar where it seems you can order food from the place across the way and have it delivered to the drinking haunt - incredible!

I finally had my appetite back  so was ready for some eating. Boy, we were not shy about ordering....and we ate it all, almost. According to a receipt I discovered stuffed in my bag for reference material we had:
  • Dragon buns - not so good
  • Fish fingers - with real fish wrapped in seaweed
  • Roast Mongolian lamb
  • San choi bao
  • Satay skewers
  • Sesame prawn toast
  • Spring rolls
  • Chinese broccoli
  • Peking fried rice
This was a very, very good night.

Tofu Rice Paper Wraps (by Biggs)

Still a little fragile from 'The Incident' I didn't want to get too creative with my dining choices so went with one of my favourites - rice paper wraps - with the selection of tofu as the least offensive protein.

Half a bite and I was done....not the fault of the rice paper wraps....definitely the fault of 'The Incident'. I couldn't avoid ordering a lurid blue soft drink. I don't think it helped but it surprisingly didn't hinder.

Water (by Biggs)

Today was not a good day, a terrible terrible incident occurred overnight. The story is not fit for public consumption so let's just say....it ended in me having water for dinner tonight.

Pub Fare (by Biggs)

With Amanda and Mike in town, we were sure to be sharing a beer or two during their visit. Amanda was unavailable to join us for fun initially due to her inability to be anything but reclining close to a bucket but Mike requested to witness 'A typical day in the life of G and Biggs' sooooo........to the pub.

We gave him the guided tour of our local area mainly focused on the beer hopping opportunities and at about dinner time ended up at our closest local for some pub fare. Amanda joined us and there were rounds of schnitzels, parmies and steaks ordered but I went with sausages.

They were great! Generous, tasty sausages, terrific gravy and my two favourite vegetables. The fact I was throwing this all back up a few hours later should be no reflection on the high quality meal.....I think we're all going to blame the wedding guests, or fare or.....something.

Wedding Fare (by Biggs)

A very exciting day today with all my Tuckerman friends in town for Brendan and Mandi's wedding. I moved to Melbourne just in time to enjoy it as a local. A absolutely beautiful ceremony followed by some great fare. A starter of pesto pasta was super satisfying, such great flavour and topped with cheese. next was an eggplant stack in a deep, rich tomato sauce with carrot and potato. I heard the alternate drop was better than mine but I was certainly happy with dinner. I'm not a big dessert person but if I was going to choose one it would be chocolate mousse. Guess what I got?! A fucking killer chocolate mousse. Then a second dessert of wedding cake - an epic effort put together by the bride's (super cool, fun loving (my new favourite person!)) sister. Vegan, gluten, healthy goodness that tasted incredible and satisfied all dietary requirements......excluding nut allergies. I quote, "If you've got a nut allergy this cake with fuck you up!". Great day, great dinner, great couple.

Congratulations Brendan and Mandi!

Mixed Grill (by Biggs)

Friday drinks with G turned into dinner at our local. Neither of us could go past the mixed grill and neither of us were disappointed.

Generous and delicious! Sausage, chop, steaks, rissole, egg, chips, two salads and excellent gravy...what more could you want?

Beer (by Biggs)

I got home late late late from Geelong tonight and all that was in our house was a frozen avocado, a slimy capsicum and some beer.

I went with the beer.

Mushroom Kebab (by Biggs)

Staying in Geelong for work tonight. By the time I got back to the hotel it was well past the restaurants closing time and I got a touch grumpy about missing dinner. Then I remembered that I was in Melbourne now when you can order dinner past 9pm  so ordered a kebab.

Wednesday used to be Vegetarian night and I was really in the mood for some vegetables so I selected a mushroom and onion kebab. What I was most impressed with was the Turkish bread with sesame used for the wrapping....most excellent!
